I came across at the official website of Sen. Angara, EdAngara.com. I wished that every candidate must have a similar site so we can carefully assess their qualifications. It helped me alot since I did not know that Sen. Angara authored the senior citizens act, philhealth, generics and free public school acts.
i just wonder how many of these platforms can truly be executed in/on time? Where and how will these senatoriables/candidates get back their hundreds of millions as their expenses during their campaign? Will the Filipinos (OUR) money to be spent by the COMELEC for this election or every election be given back justly as to service (according to these candidates platforms) to us? Hence, we should be truly observant and wise enough who we think deserves all our trust, respect and hardwork to pay them with our taxes. Another thing to consider is their HONOR and MORAL VALUES.

I also agree with you about the importance of senators having informative websites. I hust hope though, that they will use these blogs and websites to tell Filipinos about their current projects and plans, and not use them primarily to air their grievances against other politicians. Inquirer.net posted the profiles of senatorial candidates in their website. The profile includes the candidate’s platform. I understand that the list is not complete so you may also check the podcasts available in that site.
If you consider listening to the podcasts as a waste of time (which is why I havent listened to them yet), you will have to go to the candidates’ websites to glean information about their platforms. If the list is not yet complete, and you badly need it, better send an email message to the candidates. Email ads of candidates are available at congress.gov.ph but you may also check on Dexter’s election blog Philippine Eleksyon 2007 because I remember him posting email ads of senatorial candidates.
If there still are candidates with no platform in your list, I doubt if they are serious about informing people about their plans. Just tell your classmates and teacher that candidates who run without letting people know about their legislative agenda are not worthy to be voted for which is to say that it would be useless for you to discuss those candidates with no platfroms in class.

I do appreciate guys that you find me dependable enough to answer your election related queries but the information I have is also limited. I cannot, for example, give the full account of remoto’s disqualification or enumerate all the legislative accomplishments of a candidate. I suggest you try checking the information you need in related websites. I find gmanews very informative.
Also, I have noticed that some information “requests” are no longer “requests” but demands with some messages telling me to “give this information” “as soon as possible”. Another example has been posted as a comment in this page telling me to do something as if if I am obliged to comply. It really irked me. Hey guys, respeto lang.
To tell you the truth I do not believe anything about the G.O. (Genuine Opposition) Party’s unsubstantiated stories and allegations about President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. All their arguments are nothing but lies and of course politically driven because of their vested interest to be voted in the senate. May I ask our electorates to scrutinise the G.O.s platforms and I am sure they will find nothing but the same old and tested character assassination and of course capitalising on their mud-slinging expertise. But, alas! the Filipino people are not as gullible and stupid to be led to believe with such immoral tactics. May I suggest that Cayetano and Escudero and the others to shut their mouths because they begin to stink like a sewer. Are these the type of politicians we have in the Philippines now? Its scary. I have just posted this comment in the “If I were a senator, what would you do” in the Pinoy Advocacies section of this website. I said that if I were a senator first thing I would do is to give a pledge to myself and the Filipino people that I would be a true public servant and will serve my office to the best of my abilities so that the Filipino people will benefit from my efforts no matter how humble it may seem. I would create and implement bills in the senate that will help and alleviate the poor out of poverty by focussing my attention on things they need with regard to jobs, education, healthcare, housing, livelihood, peace and order and dignity. One way of achieving such intention is the creation of advisory councils comprising of respectable and credible individuals in the community coming from leading civic leaders, entrepreneurs, bankers, high-flying OFWs, effective government and non-government groups, church organisations and media facilities working together with a common purpose and goal of ending poverty in the Philippines once and for all. It is a national disgrace and shame that 70% of Filipinos are living in poverty knowing fully well that big business conglomerates are amassing massive profits and wealth through the insatiable consumerism of the populace at the expense of the hard earned money of the poor and the needy who gets nothing in return. The wealth of the country should be fairly distributed and give what is due to “Juan de la Cruz”. Job creation could be achieved through the efforts of public and private sector programmes towards building more public schools, more hospitals, more community services, more service industries, more roads and bridges, more infrastructure projects, developmental programmes to tap the resources of the OFWs and Filipino migrant and the development of tourism industry. The creation of a Philippine National Health Service offering free hospitalisation and medicines in government hospitals as well as community healthcare services to the poor including children, the elderly and low-income families. Affluent pharmaceutical companies could be appraoched for their help and support to realise this endeavour. Creation of more quality public schools and libraries to instill good education to our children after all the youth of today would inherit the rewards of the hard work that we the present generation of Filipinos had done today and had paved the way for the young to live in contentment of a new Philippines in the future. Children of poor families should have free access to computers and get acquainted with information technology as well as be taught “english language” as separate subject to develop their usage of the english language proficiently after all the english language is the universal language in thew world and this can be acheived through government initiatives as well as sponsorships and grants from our major banks who after all are raking millions of pesos of bank profits from customer services. Creation of job centre advisories where job-seekers can search and seek for jobs either locally, nationally and internationally suitable and appropriate to their qualifications, expertise and experiences. Hopefully, one day in the future whenever a Filipino goes abroad it is not to find a job but a career move instead! Creation of livelihood centres where a Filipino can find information on what business prospects are available that would meet their interest and will be provided assistance and advice from leading entrepreneurs. The creation of “Neighbourhood Watch Schemes” where members among neighbours would take responsibilities in maintaining peace and order within their locality and community with the help of an identified law-enforcer agent they can trust. Creation of a voluntary “Citizen’s Advice Bureau” in every “barangay” so that there is a place in their locality where to seek advice and help about anything that they may find problematic with their lives and to give free legal aid if needed with the support of the local government. Encouraging members of neighbourhood associations to take interest in the proper disposal of household wastes and make their surroundings clean can play a vital role in making the Philippines a clean country and become a tourist destination from affluent visitors all over the world and the revenues gained from this opportunity can add up to the local government’s treasury which in turn can be used to create beneficial and useful local services such as building low-cost housing for the poor. All these factors could be achieved through building strong social cohesion among responsible citizens, civil society, government and non-government groups, church groups, media moguls, rotary groups, voluntary organisations supported by the innate quality of every Filipino which is the “Bayanihan Spirit”. All of us can make this happen if we unite together and get rid of self-serving motives. When I have done all these as a senator then I can say in my heart and soul that I have given my best shot for “Mother Philippines” and all for the glory of GOD.

I have seen the development of our country for the past 10 to 15 years in the fields of technology, infrastructure, industry, business, and agriculture. We all know that our country is very rich in natural resources. One of our natural resources that has caught my attention which I believe will boost our economic condition is this – the Deuterium deposit in the Philippine waters.
According to classified reports, the Philippines has the biggest Deuterium deposit in the world. Many kilometers away off the coast of Surigao Strait in the Philippine deep, lies underneath the ocean floor millions and millions, or even billions, of tons of Deuterium - a form of high density hydrogen fuel. The Deuterium in the Philippine deep trench is being replenished every 24 hours as the element travels across the Pacific Ocean while the earth rotates in perpetual motion. Our supply of Deuterium is continuous as long as the waters in the Pacific Ocean exist. If this is explored, we can produce 12 millions of barrels per day of hydrogen fuel, as per technical reports. Imagine that! Hydrogen fuel - this is the fuel of the future our country has. Deuterium can replace gasoline, LPG, and other petroleum-based fuels.
As of now, the cost of Deuterium is US$ 7.00 per barrel. Within one year, our country could generate more than US$ 30.6 billion, then our country can pay its foreign debts in not much time at all.

Hey……… I am a youth, I just wanna say to the candidates that they should do their responsibility as a candidate. They will not use our votes for the corruption.
Im really glad ot know that the youth of today… (more of the knowledgeable youth of today) are getting more and more active. Im also glad that we are already starting to check out the Platforms of the National candidates who will be governing our country in the future. But the thing is…. sometimes the platforms are just BS… they make it sound good to fool the kids who are idealistic. Let’s just hope that those who are true to their words will be the ones who will be elected. Maybe the GO are always pointing out the Admin’s mistakes… but that doesnt mean they dont have any platforms… maybe they don’t really intend to make things worse…. it’s just that their main goals are to make sure that the Admin doesnt make things worse than they already are. Then after that, saka na ung mga plans nila.
I believe that if you want to be elected you must have a platform of government. Being merely a member of the opposition, or of the administration for that matter, is not enough and should not excuse one from having a platform of government. A platform of government is what will bind you to your constituents - that is your promise to them, something to take account of come the next elections. If it’s all BS then your constituent should realize the same the next time you’re up for the vote, but to just say that a candidate’s role is to merely point out mistakes is a cop out of the highest order. If that’s a candidate’s only role then the people will be better served if that candidate join the media instead, the role of a senator goes beyond just pointing out mistakes of the adminstration.
It’s too easy to point out mistakes, something else to come up with real solutions.

These so called Genuine Oppositionists are actually Genuine Opportunists who are riding on the unpopularity of the President by fabricating issues particularly against the First Family. Mike Defensor, your ad is not effective. It does not have substance. Why not use the slogan “walang iwanan” because that’s what you are? You did not leave the President when she needed you most. All that I remember are his unproven allegations on the First Family which he played over and over and over in the House. as far my opinions on the Arroyo’s are concerned: they’re guilty. showing the waiver doesn’t prove anything, the fact finding team that went to Germany can’t even be considered questionable to say the least, they were ‘paid garbage’, loyal to the money the’re gonna get. Whether Cayetano’s using the story to boost his popularlity or not, it’s yours to judge.

Hi, read all of your comments about team unity and GO and I really find it interesting especially about your different views on each political party. Anyway as for me I want to put my votes into good use. I wouldn’t want to waste my votes in voting for people without any achievements or experience. I haven’t decided on who to vote for since you can’t really tell who among those candidates are really serious in serving the people. I still find it hard to believe that after all the millions of pesos they spend after the election those candidates won’t try to steal back what they spent on their campaign, but that is the likely scenario for most of those people running for this coming election. Since that is already inevitable what really matters right now is we vote for people who are capable of improving the status of our country economically and politically. It’s just sad to see our country fall deeper into an unrecoverable problem. The crimes that are happening to our country due to the large numbers of unemployment, lack of education and the need for shelter should be the focus of those politicians and not those un ending issues and pin pointing on who cheated on the elections or who is corrupt because each one of them has there own unexplained issues or anomalies while staying in office. So I hope you vote for the right candidate for the right reason whether it be team unity or GO…

Your news ad today is unfair for it makes comparisons among Asian neighbors. Your comparison should be on the different Philippine regimes i.e. end of Marcos regime, end of Aquino regime, end of Ramos regime, end of Estrada regime (definitely a no-brainer). That’s why rallies to remove GMA from power don’t prosper because GMA appears to be the best choice because she’s the only one with the economic mind. If ever FPJ won, then our country could be doomed. With his death, then Noli de Castro will take over (who I think is limited to media knowledge). If GMA did cheat, generally people are ready to forgive for that reason. She made unpopular decisions like the E-Vat but in the long run it would be good for our country. That’s how discipline works, it would be difficult at first, but it becomes easier when you get used to it. The poor who join rallies are generally paid, the rich do not join, so when the middle class join rallies they usually amount to success.
It’s good that opposing views are allowed for that can only mean press freedom. Our country is rated the 2nd most dangerous for journalists after Iraq because of press freedom. So that ranking is another form of misperception.
Corruption would be difficult to address for now because of tradition. But at least we have checks and balance to deal with them.
If fear grips because this administration intends to stay due to Charter Change initiatives, then that can wait when a new administration takes over. The people in general are sick and tired of another impeachment complaint which appears to be the only purpose of the opposition.
I’m making these comments independently to share my views.
Allow me to share with you my opinion on the coming elections. The nation is plagued by an immature democracy for it relies generally on personalities instead of issues, our population comprising mainly of poor people who are easily swayed by money, popularity etc. That’s why the likes of Joseph Estrada and FPJ (if indeed he was cheated) get voted because poor people generally are swayed easily by their pro-poor roles in the movies. Suffice to say there are massive vote-buying activities going on. The country is indeed not ready for a true democracy where the constitution was amended primarily to prevent a repeat of the Marcos regime so that any Filipino who’s a high school graduate can run for any public position. So that charter change seems to me a good idea because vote-buying wouldn’t be as massive and candidates are further limited to adequate political knowledge and education. Although charter change can wait until the next administration because continuous fear grips from the opposition that this administration intends to stay.
An unsolicited advice to the opposition: think of the country you’re meant to serve first. Opposing views for the sake of opposing do not render just service to the country. Do not wait until our Asian neighbors Cambodia and Vietnam catch up with us.

Well EDZ_2007 this is for you…there are words which are similar in meaning, but not necessarily the same in usage. Jacky is quite correct, mataray nga lang siya….hehehe, napikon yata sayo pareng edz_2007….mukhang maka-pechay siya. Ok i’ll explain a little EDZ. Like for example LIKE, WANT, and NEED these words are almost similar in definitions, meaning to wish, desire, choose or demand,etc. But if you use them in a sentence, each has different indications, application or meanings all ready. Example; I LIKE YOUR DOLL, I WANT YOUR DOLL, I NEED YOUR DOLL. Same with the words HEAR AND LISTEN the meanings of both are to percieve, to listen, to judge, to hear, to pay attention etc., but these 2 WORDS are different in usages although they have similar meanings. OPINION and IDEA have the same definitions too in Webster like conception, impression,judgement, sentiment, illusion, belief,fantasy apprehension, etc…but OPINIONs and IDEAS have different usages and application if you wish to be more specific in your sentences… as SENTIMENT is also included in the definition of idea and opinion but SENTIMENT has a very different usage in sentences because SENTIMENT is a feeling, awareness or emotion, attitude of mind swayed by feeling rather than reason…also JUDGEMENT is also under the meaning of both words (opinion and idea) but IT cant be used simply to denote idea or opinion in a simple manner or thought. So, we cant simply use IDEA or SENTIMENT, JUDGEMENT, or OPINION if we want to have specific answers from a question, like using IDEA or OPINION perhaps in general perception they are the same meaning but definitely they are different in more specific usage EDZ. keep cool guys (:

5. PINOY votes more on sentimental factors rather than judgemental issues. Pinoy, most of us are not risky goer but adventurers, always have diffrent taste preferrenz instead of focusing on re-building what is suppose to be ” on the process of improving…” impatient pinoys always go the the flow of the majority……that’s why the majority of us… still economically “miserable”

Pimentel - ano ang ginawa ng ama niyang senador at nasaan siya noong iproklama si GMA di, ba nasa Edsa rin siya.
Aquino - ano ang ginawa ng ina niyang si Cory, di ba kasama rin siya sa proclamation ni GMA at hindi lang siya kinampihan ni GMA tungkol sa gulo ng Hacienda Luisita.
Villar - sino ang nagpasimuno sa impeachment ni Erap di ba siya.
Trillanes - sa pagiging sundalo ay di ba dapat igalang mo at sundin ang nakatataas sa iyo na Commander in Chief mo, nakinig ka lang sa sulsol at wala kang mapakitang katibayan sa mga akusasyon sa iyong Presidente.
