The Commission on Elections has agreed to accredit the National Citizens Movement for Free Elections (Namfrel) to do the quick count for the coming May 14 elections. The accreditation, however, entails Namfrel chairman Jose Concepcion to step down.
The National Secretariat for Social Action Justice and Peace of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (NASSA-CBCP), on the other hand, was not given accreditation because COMELEC “cannot accredit more than one citizens’ arm to do the quick count.”
