Leftist party-list group Anakpawis has posted its advocacy/campaign video via youtube last April 9 including itself in the ranks of other senatoriables and politicians who used the youtube to reach prospective voters.

Is campaigning via youtube effective?

I believe that there will be a number of audiences that can be reached by the you tube videos but a significant number of these will not be voting during elections. Why? Most you tube viewers are the youth and the so called “first time voters”. Sadly, many youth have failed to register themselves for the coming elections.

In addition to this, you tube itself has its problem. I havent been checking youtube videos because it takes forever to load a video. I haven’t even been posting youtube videos in this blog because it might cause my site to load longer. This might also be experienced by other internet users.

There may be those who might be checking the videos but it might be only because of curiosity. Anyhow, if I were a candidate, I will also use youtube. Why? Because PhP 230,000 for a 30 second political campaign on tv is just too costly.
