Important Reminders for Election Day
- Vote not later than 3PM. Voting starts at 7am and ends at 3PM. Don’t deny yourself of your suffrage for going to your precinct late.
- Postpone your drinking sessions. Intoxicating liquors are banned from May 13 to May 14.
- Secure your vote.
Make sure that you are voting for the right candidate. If there are two candidates with the same surname better indicate the first name of your choice. For example, Juan Reyes and re-electionist councilor James Reyes. If you are voting for Juan, put Juan Reyes not just Reyes. Reyes votes all go to re-electionist councilor James Reyes because:
“If two or more candidates have the same name or surname and one of them is incumbent and on the ballot is written that name or surname only, it shall be counted for the incumbent.”
Do not fill in every space with the name of your candidate. For example:
This is wrong!!

- Juan Reyes
- Juan Reyes
- Juan Reyes
The two other votes will not be credited to Juan Reyes.
Votes will be INVALID in the following cases :
• Combining the first name and surname of two different candidates
• Initials or illegible writing which does not sufficiently identify the candidate
• Vote for a candidate for a position he is not running for
• Vote for a party for a position they are not running for
• Two or more names of candidates or parties in one single space
• Name of person or party not running for office
• Pre-printed stickers or typed entries
• Any ballot which clearly appears to have been filled by two distinct persons
• Vote for a disqualified candidate or party
