December is the best time to guess who will be running in the coming election.

Some candidate do early and not so blatant forms of campaigning (or else, they will be charged of early electioneering) by:

• giving out 2007 calendars with a bold name and a perfectly photoshopped picture in it

• Saying “Merry Christmas” to all the kapuso in Channel 7 and wishing all kapamilya a bountiful new year in Channel 2. Political candidates may pay TV and radio ads to greet voters during the Christmas season.

Politicians who are running in the coming election also grab all the opportunity to be “seen”. So politicians who are always in talk shows are more likely to run.

In the local level, many candidates will be going to fiestas, attend some gatherings, make some speech or spearhead some activities to be seen or be known by the public.

What to watch out for:

Politicians who are not visible during their terms of office. Voters should check the visibility of re- electionists when they are still in office and not on months before the election.
